The Parker Jackson Legacy Lacrosse cup is incredibly excited and honored to have Kyle Harrison of the LXM Pro Tour attend Friday evenings banquet and Saturday's game.
Harrison has been referred to as "one of the best players of this generation", serving as captain of Johns Hopkins' undefeated 2005 NCAA Lacrosse championship team, representing the United States on Team USA, was a five-time All-Star in the MLL and currently plays on the newest and hottest outdoor Pro Lacrosse venture, the LXM Pro Tour. His speed and agility are unmatched, and his desire to compete is what drives him.
Without question, Harrison is one of the sport's brightest stars, but Kyle Harrison's life is about much more than winning games. For years he has lead clinics around the country to share his passion for lacrosse with underprivileged kids in America's urban centers. His off-seasons are spent traveling from city to city, meeting young athletes, sharing meals and stories and teaching fundamentals of sportsmanship and respect that go far beyond the playing field.
"Lacrosse has presented with me with SO many opportunities thus far in my life. Because of that, a real passion of mine is getting into the inner cities across the country to promote this game to underprivileged kids and show them the doors it can open for them."
Raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Harrison was introduced to lacrosse at a very young age by his father, also a lacrosse player. He excelled at the sport through high school and this success, combined with his excellent academic record, earned him scholarship offers from multiple top-ranked schools. Ultimately, Harrison chose Johns Hopkins University because of its challenging academic program and fierce lacrosse reputation.
At the end of a clinic in San Francisco, one of the more talented kids stopped Harrison and said, "You know I'm going to be better than you, right?" In his later account of the day, Harrison responded, "Well buddy, I hope you're right, and I'll be looking for you in 10 years."
Kyle Harrison is impacting the world around him in ways that will far outlast his professional lacrosse career. His achievements in athletics are impressive, but his commitment to using his ability and passion to change lives is what insures that his legacy will live on, long after he is gone.
